Q: Why do people attempt suicide when they appear to feel better?

Q: Why do people attempt suicide when they appear to feel better?

A: In some cases, a severely depressed individual who contemplates suicide doesn't have enough energy to attempt it. As the disease lifts, they could be able to regain some energy but feelings of hopelessness will linger, and the increased energy levels add up to acting on suicidal feelings. And then there’s this theory that proposes that an individual could "give in" to the disease since they can't fight it anymore. This alleviates some anxiety, which would make them appear calmer in the period right before a suicide attempt.
